Groundwater-river water interaction
I am a senior research scholar in the department of Geology and Geophysics, Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur. I broadly work on interaction between river water and groundwater along one of the densely populated perennial mega rivers of South Asia, the Ganges. My specific study area is Varanasi. Water security is of utmost importance for any growing settlement on a global scale. My investigation includes multifaceted approach in delineating hydrological interaction with specialization on geochemistry, stable isotopic signatures, piezometric fluctuations, statistical analysis, thus securing long term sustainable water availability. I have experience of rigorous hydrological field works which include bore-well construction and sediment & water sampling. Besides, I also have handled high end instruments for water sample analysis.
