Research/thesis Topic:

Biogeochemistry- Arsenic and other elemental cycling.

My general research interests are in Microbial Ecology and Environmental Chemistry. My research focusses on studying sedimentary and aquatic organic matter compositions to understand geochemical cycles and the functional dynamics-diversity and role of microbes in carrying out these processes. I also work on eco-physiology of microbial communities in unique environmental systems associated with biogeochemical cycling of redox-active elements. The research techniques I frequently adopt are: Sedimentary and Aquatic Biomarker analysis (alkanes, alkanols, fatty acids, amino acids,ligno-phenols), stable isotope geochemistry (C,N and O), Metagenomics and molecular biology.
